Black Jack Basics – Part One

[ English ]

The main premise of the game is to be dealt cards totaling up to 21. Every gambler is given two cards. When a black jack player is dealt a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been handed a soft hand. When the gambler is dealt no Ace it is known as a hard hand. Once the cards have been given to all players at the table, which includes the dealer, every gambler is given the chance to make one of 6 decisions:

Taking another card (Hit): When a black jack player announces "hit" the croupier will deal them another card, if the adding of that card makes the total greater than twenty-one the black jack player will have busted and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to twenty one the player will be the winner and if the total has not yet reached twenty one they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a blackjack player is happy with the cards they will stay. Once this has happened the croupier will reveal his or her hand and the blackjack player who has gotten 21 or the nearest to twenty one will acquire a win.

Doubling Down: A blackjack player may request to double down which increases the wager by 100% they have placed. Once you have taken this procedure you can only be given 1 additional card. The specifics of doubling down are usually specified by the table or casino rules so before playing be sure you are at ease with the casino game rules. If you’re competing at an on-line betting house this is usually very simple.
